Barking Dog Books

Michael Mercer grew up in suburban L.A. during the Sixties, studied at UC Berkeley, learned fiction writing from Thaisa Frank and Leonard Bishop, among others, and at 39 left San Francisco’s financial district for the expatriate artist community of Todos Santos, Mexico, where he now lives and writes in the company of Gloria Marie V., a painter.

Mexicoland is Mercer's first collection of stories (Barking Dog Books, 1999), followed by Bandidos in 2004.  Two novels have yet to be published:  Fish The World, a black-humored political love story set in L.A. and Baja in election-year 1976; and The Night Traveler, an apocalyptic parable on the terrorism of the imagination.  Michael Mercer can be reached at barkingdogbooks@yahoo.com.
